Having recently been on a wonderful and substantial home-studio training course, the need for a mobile set-up presented itself to me.

So with this small idea in mind, I have set about building up a small business with financial aid from my bank as well as family to bring this truly mobile and unique home service to reality.


As with all new starts it is imperative to capitalize on all mediums to advertise services and products.

I use all digital with main camera bodies bieng the renowned Canon 30D along with the 5D with a variety of lenses to comliment the cameras.

Lighting set up is the Elinchrome Dlite2 flash head set. Coupled with softboxes or umberellas it is one of the most versatile portable solutions. This coupled to a backdrop stand and various cloths for the background all adds to a very comprehensive mobile studio solution.


Services provided range from formal portraits, through to small informal wedding services.

Also have your valuable items professionally photographed for your own peace of mind and any unfortunate insurance claims you may have to make.

Tips for the shoot.


As the aim is to acheive relaxed, natural shots so I would recommend wearing comfortable clothing such as jeans and trainers for family shoots. Think about coordinating everyone’s wardrobe.

Neutral colours work well with splashes of colour that can be introduced by using a brightly colored scarf, brolly or welly boots. Solid colours work best, keep patterns and logos to a minimum. Jackets with furry hoods work nicely in winter.

You may want to bring along items that are significant to you: Musical instruments, sports equipment or your child's favourite teddy.
